Omron 7 Series Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor (Model BP652) Review
Omron 7 Series Model BP652 wrist blood pressure monitor.
If you have high blood pressure or you just want to monitor your blood pressure as part of your fitness routine, then you’ll need an accurate blood pressure monitor like the Omron 7 Series Model BP652 wrist blood pressure monitor.
When it comes to blood pressure monitors, there are typically two common types, the upper arm monitor and the wrist monitor. In the past, wrist monitors had a reputation of being inaccurate, which was mostly due to the incorrect usage of the wrist monitor. Not only has the technology improved, but the Omron 7 Series monitors have a unique solution to ensure proper usage.
How to Use the Omron 7 Series Blood Pressure Monitor
In order for wrist model blood pressure monitors to accurately measure your blood pressure, the monitor needs to be held at the same level as your heart. The Omron 7 Series blood pressure monitors have the Heart Guide Technology to ensure the proper placement of the monitor before taking your blood pressure.
The Omron 7 Series uses flashing orange and blue lights to indicate when the monitor is in level with your heart. The orange light indicates that you are not in position and the blue light indicates that it is in position and will automatically take a blood pressure reading. The Omron 7 has three setting ON1, ON2, and OFF.
The ON1 setting is the default setting; however it is not the recommended setting. When in the ON1 setting, the monitor will indicate whether the pressure cuff is in the right alignment or not, but will take a blood pressure reading after a few seconds regardless.
The ON2 setting is the recommended setting as it indicates with the lights whether the placement of the cuff is level with your heart or not and will automatically take a reading once it is in place for two seconds.
The OFF setting is not recommended as it will take a blood pressure reading regardless of where the cuff is positioned.
In addition to providing an accurate blood pressure reading, the Omron 7 has an Irregular Heartbeat Indicator. If the monitor measures an irregular heartbeat multiple times, it will display an icon in the top right corner of the display. An irregular heartbeat is not to be taken lightly and you should consult with a physician if you repeatedly see this icon.
To accurately take your blood pressure, it’s important that you remain still while measuring. The Omron 7 Series has a Movement Indicator as well to notify you of excessive movement and the need to retake your reading.
The Omron 7 Series blood pressure monitors record a history of 100 measurements. You can configure the monitor for two users, so it will record 100 measurements for each user.
